Mid-Atlantic Section of the American Physical Society will be held at the
Waterfront Place Hotel and Convention Center in
Morgantown WV, on the weekend of October 23-25 2015.
The diverse program will include themes such as the
2015 Year of Light and Light-Based Technologies and the
100th Anniversary of General Relativity. Please register for the meeting, share
you scientific work and see what else is happening in the
Mid-Atlantic Section. To help us celebrate these themes plenary speakers include Prof. Wayne Knox (Institute of Optics, University
of Rochester), Prof. Chris Monroe (JQI, University of Maryland and NIST), Prof.
Karin Rabe (Rutgers University), Dr. Stephan Schlamminger (National Institute
of Standards and Technology) and Prof. Alex Wolszczan (The Pennsylvania
State University). In addition, we have distinguished invited speakers from all
over the region to led Focus Session in research areas of high interest.
The meeting will also include professional development with a
graduate fair and industry reception. Oral and poster presentations will be
judged and awards presented after the final plenary session on Sunday.
Morgantown is a college town on the banks of the Monogahela River in the northern
part of mountainous West Virginia and a picturesque location for a Fall meeting.
The
Waterfront Place Hotel and Convention Center is located less than a mile
from the
Department of Physics and Astronomy at
West Virginia University. The two locations are connected by a walkable rail-trail
that provides easy access to the downtown and High Street, where many
restaurants are situated.
